Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Psalm 62:8
When I was diagnosed with the COVID virus, a friend joked, “Joni, God seems to be pushing the limits on your ability to trust him.” And I can see why she said that. I’ve battled cancer, lifelong quadriplegia, pain and now this strange, dangerous virus. But I told her I was happy to put my confidence in Psalm 62:8 which says, “Trust in [the Lord] at all times, you people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” When it comes to trials that seem to pile on, this short but powerful verse answers the deepest of our questions: Who can I really trust? Only God. When do I need to trust? At all times. How do I express my trust? By pouring out your heart to him. And why trust God? Because he is this minute a refuge for you. If you are overwhelmed by trials today, Psalm 62:8 is your best guide!
