I asked Gorden Eden (pictured above with his angel wife Mary) to share his thoughts on the tragic death of Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley. Gorden served as a New Mexico State Police Officer, U.S. Marshal, Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and the Albuquerque Chief of Police. Gorden and his wife Mary are such bright lights for Jesus! New Mexico is so very blessed by the Eden’s. I had such a wonderful and inspiring conversation with the Chief this morning. I call Gorden Chief to this day, as once a Chief, always a Chief in my book! I am thankful for the friendship of Gorden and Mary.

Boulder policer officer Eric Talley was shot dead while responding to a massacre at a grocery store left his six-figure IT job to become a police officer after his friend tragically died in a DUI crash. Officer Talley, 51 years old, was reported as the first officer on the scene.
Officer Talley is a husband and the father of seven children and the youngest child is seven years old.
Be clear, Officer Eric Talley is not a “cop”, he was a guardian and warrior. Up until the moment of his death, Officer Talley was a man with a guardians heart. A husband, father, brother and friend who was a hero and an example of service before self. His traits paint a clear picture of a hero, guardian and warrior. A man who loved God and grew wiser with each life experience.
Officer Talley’s mission was clear, dangerous and necessary! An active shooter, innocent people were in harms way and the suspect(s) must be stopped. Officer Talley had no advanced intelligence on the situation, no air support, no advanced technology to support his mission. What he had was courage! COURAGE! The courage of a warrior and the heart of a guardian.
“The wicked use their words to ambush and accuse, but the lovers of God speak (act) to defend and protect.”
