Such a lovely Church. I miss Grandma and Grandpa greatly. They helped raise me up to be a preacher, it took me years, but I am here! Grandma spoke over me in 1974 that I would be a preacher! Glory!
This message from Gary is titled “Why are Christians mean.” I took the liberty to change the title here at FGGAM because I do not think the majority of Christians are mean. This post was in my ChurchLeaders email today. I soaked it in….I realized there are times I may come across mean. It is a good heart check up for us all. I am thankful for Gary’s message as it can help us all be better people of God. As I love to say, we are all to be Ambassadors for Jesus. I love posts that will make you stop and talk to God! We all need God to help us analyze our lives.
The book of Romans also sets up a high standard for believers, telling us to “be devoted to one another in brotherly love” (12:10), “never be wise in your own sight” (12:16) and keep in mind that “love does no harm to its neighbor” (13:10). No harm. To anyone. So, in our relations with anyone we are to be devoted to their overall welfare, to not be overly confident in our opinion, and to never do anyone any harm. There’s no room here for any “Bible believing” Christian to be mean.
What a different world this would be if, indeed, we were “devoted” to everyone’s welfare, if we were humble in our own opinions, and committed to not do anyone harm—no gossip, no mean-spirited denunciation, no slander. Doesn’t that sound like a nice world to live in?
