He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. In him we have placed our hope that he will yet again deliver us.
2 Corinthians 1:10
Many Christians view the Gospel as that which only saved them when they first believed in Jesus. They stop there, thinking that Gospel-power is mainly for the unsaved. But 2 Corinthians 1 begs to disagree, for it says: “He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. In him we have placed our hope that he will yet again deliver us.” Jesus delivered you when you first believed, he delivers you now from daily sin, and he will deliver you when it’s time for you to exit this earth and enter heaven. You will never outgrow your need for the Gospel. You don’t merely begin the Christian life with the Gospel and then leave it behind. No, God strengthens you with the Gospel every day until the day that you die. So get in the habit of preaching the Gospel to yourself every morning. It is your path to continual deliverance.
