Chaos and bloodshed unfolded this morning at Kabul’s international airport where thousands of Afghans have gathered in a last-ditch attempt to board US military flights evacuating Western diplomats. At least three people were killed by gunfire during the desperate scramble, and with all civilian fights suspended, the options are running out for these Afghans to escape the Taliban. The terror group declared victory after seizing control of the capital Sunday and bringing Afghanistan to its knees. Here’s what you need to know.

At least 1,297 people were killed during Haiti’s 7.2 magnitude earthquake over the weekend and rescue teams are frantically searching for missing people. Haiti is still reeling from the assassination of its president last month and is now bracing for a tropical storm that threatens to bring even more devastation.
A massive wildfire broke out in the Jerusalem area yesterday, filling the sky with a blanket of smoke and forcing more than 10,000 people to evacuate their homes. Israeli firefighters brought the blaze under control this morning and authorities say it was “100% caused by people.”
