Yesterday at a family session, our counselor mentioned a moment that could have possibly been healed with a ‘Hug’.
Immediately – the mention brought be back to one of the most powerful, Biblical examples of ‘Healing with a Hug’:
Remember The Prodigal Son?
A son who was tired of being bossed around, doing as others told him. Only wanted what he thought was ‘due him’.
After his father gave the son his inheritance (which he didn’t deserve), the son lived high-on-the-hog, pleasured himself, wasted the wealth given him (not deserved).
And then…
As he still felt empty and broken,
Wandering his way back to the only place that ever felt like home…
HIS FATHER WAS WATCHING FOR HIM!!!
And saw him!
And not only hugged his son, but the father himself ran to meet his son!
As earthly parents, we will try to attain this kind of Love.
Some days – I will fail; Both of us will fail.
All 5 of us will fail each other.
Other days – we will get it right.
I pray – as a parent – that I’m as in-tune with my children and spouse as Father God is with my 
.
.That I can see or sense the need for simply —
A Hug.
Even if it’s a stretch for some of us (dads?) to reach out and grab our kid or spouse and pull ‘em in, that maybe — that one moment will be remembered –
Forever.
