Senator Cliff Pirtle Applauds New Mexico Youth Livestock Expo Move to Roswell
ROSWELL – Today, Senator Cliff Pirtle (District 32-Chaves, Eddy, and Otero) and former New Mexico State Fair Commissioner Tommy Spindle announced that the New Mexico Youth Livestock Expo will be held in Roswell, New Mexico, September 14-17, with a sale on Friday, September 17, at 1 p.m. The decision to relocate the Expo came in response to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s most recent health order mandating vaccinations for all eligible individuals who attend and participate in the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque. The result of the mandate was the exclusion of 4-H and FFA children who did not want the vaccine or did not have time to complete the two dose vaccine cycle before the Fair.
Senator Pirtle issued the following statement celebrating the announcement:
“I am proud to see my community accept the children who were turned away by the Governor’s outrageous new mandate. Here in Chaves county, we believe in freedom and hard work, and these children will now have the opportunity to be recognized and rewarded for the work they have put in. On behalf of my constituents and my district, I thank the Governor and the City of Albuquerque for sending us your business and your best and brightest. I urge all New Mexicans to come to the True New Mexico State Fair and support a community that honors and exhibits True New Mexico values.”
