PRAY OVER THIS
“…and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace”
PONDER THIS
Do you have peace right now? Or are you anxious on the inside? If you don’t have peace, it’s not primarily because of your circumstances. Peace in the Bible is not the subtraction of problems from life. Peace is the addition of power to meet those problems. Psalm 119:165 says, “Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.”
Jesus made peace with the blood of His cross, and without this as our foundation, we’re going to slip and fall in the battle. Many people fall, not because of a lack of integrity and not because of a lack of purity but because of a lack of tranquility. Without the foundation of peace that comes from Christ, our circumstances can topple us at any moment. But when we put on the shoes of peace, we have a firm place to stand. Otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before we slip and fall.
- How much peace would you say you have in your life?
- How is the Bible’s definition of peace different than that of the world?
PRACTICE THIS
Make a list of the things currently bringing you anxiety. Next to each of these, write the ways the Gospel brings peace despite that circumstance.
