Faith, Hope and Encouraging Word By Jeanne Theriault

Guarding Our Hearts

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.

The Word teaches us not to have a hard heart

Hebrews 3:7-8 So as the Holy Spirit says Today if you hear his voice 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion during the time of testing in the desert.

In the Bible Solomon used the word heart many times. Seventy times in Proverbs, twenty five times in Ecclesiastes, eleven times in Song of Solomon.
The condition of our hearts will reflect our lives. What is the condition of your heart? Is it prideful , attitude, unbelieving , hardness, unforgiving .If your heart is not in the right place you won’t be able to love. Love is about caring , sharing and being able to serve and to reach out to others. God’s foundation is love.

1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is , Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down or lives for our brothers.

Don’t allow yourself to live in a prison of hardness. Jesus was  always moved with compassion.
Mark 6:34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd , he had compassion on them.
Having true compassion will always move you to do something for others.
Don’t allow pride to control your heart, it will lead you to destruction

Proverbs The16:5 The Lord detests all the proud heart. Guarding your heart is the core of a person’s thoughts, feelings, desires, will, and choices that makes the person who he is. God  always see’s the heart of a man.

1 Samuel 16:7 The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, the Lord looks at the heart.

What we fill our hearts will come out in our words and action.

Luke 6:45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

When you spend  time in God’s word and pray allowing your heart and mind to focus on his love for you then the Holy Spirit will control your thoughts and actions. What comes out of our mouth will reflect a life that honors God. As we guard our hearts ,God will give us the strength through the power of the Holy Spirit to do all things well.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a pure heart O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me .

1 Timothy 1:5 The goal of this command is love which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.

Philippians 4:7 The peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Lord fill our hearts with your love and compassion. Let us be an example to others by being compassionate. Cleanse us from all guilt keep our hearts pure and good conscience and guards our hearts and minds in Jesus name, Amen
