From Yesterday:
Team Jesus, please seek the face of JESUS this morning and pray for all the folks that have been touched by this historic fire. Put this need on your Churches prayer list please!
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
I cannot even wrap my mind around this historic tragedy. When I first saw the news reports coming in this week, 500 homes destroyed, over 600 burned, now it could be up to 1,000 as the investigation continues. This is a disaster of epic proportions! So many have no home, so many who have a home in the area, but have no power. This disaster pains me greatly for our fellow Americans. It makes me put my priorities in line! God and family and basic needs, not money or fancy dancy. We must turn our hearts and minds toward this disaster in America. What can you and I do, we can pray and search where we can make donations to the folks in need. Red Cross and the Salvation Army are on my mind right now on a way to help. I will do my research. Think of all the children, babies…..Picture in your mind the hard working Firefighters, EMT’s, all First Responders, Police, Deputy Sheriffs, Game and Fish,……all those helping in this disaster. Think about that as you gather to celebrate the New Year. Many have lost all and many are sacrificing much to serve. What to you spend your money on?
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Hundreds of structures — including homes and businesses — have been destroyed in Boulder County following a fast-moving grass fire that forced evacuations in all of Superior and Louisville. It grew to become the most destructive fire in Colorado history.

From Adrian Rogers:
PRAY OVER THIS
“Then the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, ‘Why have you given us only one lot and one share to inherit, since we are a great people, inasmuch as the Lord has blessed us until now?’”
PONDER THIS
The people of Israel were living in self-confidence. They were boasting about their greatness. The same thing is true about so many of us. Pride is bad enough, but pride that lifts its head from the mire of failure is terrible. These people were failing to be, do, have, and say what God would have them be, do, say, and have, and they were saying, “Look how great we are.”
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). There’s nothing that will put you more out of the reach of the devil than genuine humility. But if you’re proud, you’re going to find God as an enemy. The Bible says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). And what is grace? Grace is the desire and the ability to do the will of God.
- What are some ways you are tempted to live in confidence in yourself instead of in God?
- How have you experienced the reality that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble?
PRACTICE THIS
Today is the start of a new year. You are likely taking up new practices and setting new goals. Assess your goals for this year through the lens of dependence on self or dependence on the Lord. Take steps to rely further on the Lord this year.

Severe weather is also wreaking havoc in other parts of the country. More than 8,000 domestic flights have been cancelled since Wednesday alone, between weather and COVID-related staffing shortages, and parts of Nevada, California and Oregon have issued states of emergency after these weather emergencies.
