Is Everyday Church Day?
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. Today, I wanted to share a writing from my sister Jen. She had a big heart and even though she was physically challenged, lived on limited income she helped everyone she could. I found this writing when I was packing my home to move. I know she was referring to people that were in need of a place to live.
Reading her article, brought to memory of a mission trip from several years ago, my daughter and I went on to New York City and worked with a team, serving. I still remember her words as she prayed for people as we passed out meals. One gentleman wanted her to pray longer as she passed him his brown bag lunch. She said you will need to ask her, as she pointed to me. She knows how to pray the long drawn-out prayers. Still makes me chuckle, even today. Here it is…
His hair has not seen a comb this morning…His coat is ragged and worn…His eyes are bleary from lack of sleep… That coat won’t keep him warm.
But… Keep on walking, turn your head, and don’t even look his way. Look the other way and you will see her!
Her hair has lost its lustre… It’s no longer styled with care… Look into her face and see the hurt and pain… It’s clearly written everywhere.
Now only outcasts, that is their fate… But we can reach out and help them. It might not be too late. If we give them a warm bed to sleep in, and some good food to eat. But don’t let that just be all for the folks living on the street…
For they were some mothers’ babies… They were some parents’ sons… Once they listened to the songs, that she sung. Some mother rocked them, her babies, to sleep. She never dreamed they’d be folks living on the street.
Today, let’s pray for those that need shelter, those that need a place to live. Let’s pray for folks that need food, those that need clothing, or have an unmet need of some kind.
Father, you see every need we have here in America and across this world. Nothing escapes your watchful eye. Father, we pray for people needing a place to live, food to eat, clothing or maybe just a simple prayer, or maybe even a long drawn-out one. We pray you meet the many needs through ordinary people that have a heart for God’s beautiful people.
Father, you gently care for your people. There is not a one that you leave behind. You leave the ninety- nine and go after the one. Thank you that no one is beyond your reach and you desire good for all.
Father, draw us all closer today and may your spirit be close to all in need today. Send someone to help them, we pray. Let us have church again today. A call to serve. Amen.
Have a blessed day God’s most beautiful people. You were not called to just a Sunday Service. You were called to serve every day.
Matthew 25:34-40 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
