Dear Dewey,We recently had the rare opportunity to speak with a believer who was forced to flee his home in Afghanistan. What he shared with us has left me encouraged that the church is still alive in Afghanistan—and also on my knees in prayer.“I want every American to know: There is love of Jesus working in Afghanistan,” he told us.
But he didn’t mince words about the danger that Afghan followers of Jesus are facing: “[Christians] are the first target for Taliban. If they find out about you, it’s like a death warrant.” You can learn more about Christians in Afghanistan here. |

Afghanistan is the world’s most dangerous country for Christians. This believer’s words remind us that our brothers and sisters are either in hiding or on the run. As he says, “You’re always living inside the cage.” What would it be like to go through life that way?I hope you’ll take a few minutes today to listen to these audio clips and pray for the remnant of Afghan believers who are secretly building the church there. And pray for Christian refugees who have left everything they know and are struggling to rebuild their lives.
Pray that God will be ever-close to Afghan believers both inside and outside the country—reminding them in unimaginable ways that He is their refuge, their strength and their song (Psalm 91). Thank you for listening to this believer… and caring about your Afghan family. Best, *Photo credit: IMB |
