It wafts down through the lowlands, like a cool refreshing breeze
It rings from every mountaintop and dances through the trees.
Though we cannot touch it, it must be held onto.
No man shall take it from us, it belongs to me and you.
It is challenged on the battlefields, too well we know the cost.
Way too many gave their lives, that it would not be lost.
Through the words of our Constitution, it runs just like a thread.
With God’s grace, we’ll protect it, and defend it till we’re dead.
I guess if it had a color, it’d be red, white and blue…
The colors of America….the brave, the tried, the true.

It’s the backbone of America….We call it LIBERTY!
We should all be thankful for liberty and pay tribute to those who fought a revolution in order to secure it for America.
The liberty we celebrate today began on July 4, 1776 with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. On August 2, 1776 fifty-six men signed this document and the United States of America became free from the rule of Great Briton. Each man who signed was well aware of the danger to them and their families. All of them sacrificed their lives, lost loved ones, homes, and finances. Some were farmers, statesmen, wealthy land owners…some well-known, and others seldom heard of before or since, but we owe each a debt of gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice in order to obtain and preserve freedom and independence.
It was with much prayer, determination, and a great desire for freedom that America fought for its rights as a nation…and we still fight today to protect these freedoms. We fight as our fathers did, not only for our rights as a nation, but for individual freedom to live and worship as we please. It was God who gave us these certain unalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Today America is in much need of repentance and a desire to return to the original goals of our founders, as scripture says in 2 Col. 7: 14. It is time for us, as God’s people, to humble ourselves…that means forget about pride and what anyone else thinks and admit we need help. We must pray and seek God’s face. Most of all we must turn away from our wicked ways; stop believing what politicians tell us and seek God’s truth. Only when we do this individually, will God hear our prayers and heal our land. Only with God can real life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness begin.
