In my lifetime, which began closely after WWII, I have not seen problems in the world so widespread at once and as blatantly evil as we are seeing right now. Our problems in America seem to be growing every day. We have nearly completely reversed all biblical standards as new and acceptable standards of living. Right has become wrong, and wrong has become right in the modern society of which we are forced to live. Fear and hate are strong today!
The Almighty God, Creator, made humanity male and female; today there are those who make their own creations within their minds, and the variety of these crazy designs has become a list of genders, the like of which, I simply cannot keep up with, but worse, they are supported by both present governments and many blinded fools of the evil one, Satan himself. Fear and hate are strong today!
Then there are the struggles of life in the personal arena; difficulties of self in relationships, finances, and health issues, to mention a few (it could be a long list). From the cradle, the fear that “dreads” lives throughout life . . . from the earliest years, on through school and long after. It becomes a habit of the mind. And the actual mental and bodily damage is beyond estimation. We live in a world where peace . . . peace of mind . . . is becoming a distant memory, even a stranger in our lives . . . even in the lives of Christians!
And in despair I bowed my head
“There is no peace on earth,” I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of Peace On Earth, Good Will to Men
Beloved, fear captivates the mind! But it was not intended to be that way for the child of God . . . and it does not need to be!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15)
“And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” (Romans 16:20)
My believing friends, these Scriptures, and many more like them, reveal that there is an umbrella, a covering, a being beneath His wings, a place of refuge for His born-again children, a hiding place shielded by our LORD’s very peace where we can abide, dwell, live, stay . . . if we choose. There is a realm of trust we can cling to . . . if we will.
The choices of realms which we will allow to control our hearts and minds are: fear, anger, hate, rebellion, rejection, etc., which are ruled by the evil one, the devil . . . then there is the peace of God. Beloved, we must decide which realm we want to preside over us; and to not choose with intention, is a choice we will live in!
The Scriptures say to us boldly and clearly; “Let the peace of Christ rule” . . . and, “do not let your heart be troubled” . . . and “Let your requests be known to God.” The word, “Let,” is a direct command, but it is also a choice within our free will that we will make with the realities of life we face.
Dear Christian, even as situations arise which may trouble your heart; you still have the option to retreat to that safe haven of God’s peace and from fear. God’s peace is always near to your grasp. You have within you a power over your attitudes and emotions. Fear, anger, and hatred can only control you if you allow it to. Take authority over your fretting, worrying, angry mind-set because it always opens the way of more evil. Stand in faith on the promises of God.
The Christian is always at war, spiritual war, and we are told to fix, prepare, ourselves for each battle we encounter. The peace of God applied becomes our shield, and the Scriptures, the Word of God our weapon, the Hammer that breaks the rock in pieces!
Therefore, in every spiritual battle, capture your negative, unbelieving thoughts that cause your mind to believe that your problem is way bigger than your God. God knows in advance the problem you face and the solution according to His purpose.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
My friend, if you are not right with God, you can never, no not ever, turn your mind anywhere but on yourself. If you permit anything to block your view of Jesus, you are either troubled/anxious, or have a false sense of security. God’s peace is far beyond human understanding. When you accept the peace, He alone offers, it will transform your entire life.
Childlike trust in Christ drives that spirit of fear and dread away. It changes one’s mental attitude . . . removing ills, and imaginary ills resulting from the torture of dread. Do you want to discover or rediscover God’s peace? Then do your best to live in the center of God’s will. Beloved, lay it all before Him, and in the face of difficulty, grief, fear and sorrow, hear Him say, “Let not your heart be troubled . . .” Pray On!
