“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed”

Psalm 107:29

A few nights ago, the dark clouds started rolling in, the wind was picking up, I could hear thunder and lightning peeling across the sky.

I love this type of weather.  I know it’s going to storm soon and I am prepared. My windows are closed, my puppies are inside and now I’m just waiting.

I know from past experience that the storm is going to come, regardless of what I do. Although they can’t control it, the Weathermen have predicted it. I just know it’s coming. The signs are all there. Not hard to miss since I’ve seen it a million times. It’s scary sometimes.

There are also personal storms that come.

The Bible says God makes it rain on the just and the unjust.

Matthew 5:45.

We simply live in a world that has storms as a natural part of life, things that may be beyond our Control, but then there are some storms that are self inflicted by our own foolishness and disobedience to God.

Storms can roll in fast, suddenly turning blue skies into dark worrisome clouds. It can happen with one single phone call, with a diagnosis or just one thought of our sordid past that we never saw coming.

All of a sudden you’re in the middle of a torrential down pour. Sometimes these storms can last for days or even longer.

Storms can also disappear as quick as they arrived. When the rain has stopped and the sun comes out, you’ll usually see a rainbow. You’ll smell the earth.

Such a beautiful moment in time.

When times in your life seem too hard to handle, remember that there’s usually a calmness after the storm.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Romans 8:18

Remember that Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path. That should bring us some comfort and peace. (Author, Tamela)

Perhaps the best reason God has for taking us through the trials of life is to bring us to the understanding that we need Him. He desires to work through our lives; therefore we must learn to depend on Him. He alone must be our source of strength and understanding, especially through the storms and dark times. During this time, we should Focus on God, not the storm.

Jesus said; “Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”

Psalm 50:15

When the storms come up, we should be looking for a safe place of shelter.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty whose power no enemy can withstand. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust with great confidence, and on whom I rely.”

Psalm 91:1&2

No matter what storm you’re facing, remember that there will be an end to it. Just hang on!

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

My prayer for you today is that you’d be calm in the midst of your storm.

Many Blessings,

Connie
