The date and time for the Memorial Service for our awesome friend Scott Flury, I call him Mr. Chama, has been set. Scott’s lovely daughter, Amanda let me know that the service is set for 1pm this Friday, which is October 21st at Monte Vista Christian Church located at 3501 Campus BLVD. NE. in Albuquerque 87106. I pray that you can attend and show Scott’s family the love of Jesus! I have received so many messages about Scott’s passing, The overall comment is  that he loved all and helped bring people together, and served Chama like no other. What a role model for these times we live in, brining people together Amen!

Refreshments will be served after the service, it will give all of us more time together.

If you have any questions you can email me at pastordewey@fggam.org

I just talked to Scott’s daughter Amanda this morning, I am so very shocked and sadden, Scott is Mr. Chama. He passed away at Rust Hospital in Albuquerque with family at his side. I love Scott, he was one of the most loving men I will ever know in my life. Scott worked for me at the Sports Animal radio station in Albuquerque back in the mid 90’s. He was recommended to me by many. He is a long time sportscaster, owned the radio station in Chama for many years, was the morning man, the voice of sports in the area, and then the owner of ther Chama newspaper. I have been writing a devotional column for Scott’s newspaper. He also served on the Chama Village Council. He is forever in my mind Mr. Chama, he was a walking, talking advertisement for the community! He also ran a lodge in Chama at one time. He had us come up and stay one time.

Mostly, however he loved his daughter Amanda so very much, he was so very proud of the woman she has become! I agree with your daddy, Amanda! Amanda was my sales assistant for a time when I was with the Sports Animal. Our deepest sympathy to Amanda and Scott’s wife Lilija and the entire family.

This is what the Village of Chama posted on their Facebook page:

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Councilor Scott Flury. Thank you for your service and dedication to the Village of Chama and the community. You will be greatly missed by all of us.
