I am still waking up and looking at this story and shaking my head……someone has to help the homeless…….This grandma has more guts than many pastors. Reminds me of Mother Theresa!! See video below. Someone has to stand for JESUS and His people!

From CBN:

A 78-year-old grandmother has filed a federal lawsuit against Bullhead City, Arizona, nearly eight months after she was arrested for giving away hot home-cooked meals to homeless people in a city park earlier this year.

USA Today reports police arrested Norma Thornton for sharing food at a park in violation of a 2021 city ordinance that heavily restricts the sharing of food for “charitable purposes” at a public park.

According to the 27-page lawsuit, Thornton has been serving people food at the park for four years. Since the nearest shelters and food pantries are located several miles away, she decided to bring the food to the people in the park. More Here

From Brandon Cox in CHURCHLEADERS:

It’s inevitable. If you’re in ministry long at all, you will absolutely find yourself ministering to people who struggle with mental health issues. And rather than there being clear boundaries between the mental and spiritual parts of us, we are, instead, whole beings. We think thoughts. We feel emotions. We make decisions. Our bodies and our brains are made of matter and exist in a real, physical dimension. And it all relates. It all overlaps. The church can encourage mental health. More Here

The statistics are startling. Between 2007 and 2019, adolescents reporting a major depressive episode increased 60 percent. Tragically, during a similar time frame, the suicide death rate among 10–24 year olds increased 56 percent. This issue isn’t confined to young people. In 2020, anxiety and depression increased globally by 25 percent. Depression and anxiety rates exploded so rapidly that, at the end of 2021, the U.S. Surgeon General declared a “devastating” national mental health crisis. What is your Church doing to help the homeless? How long will America treat them like cattle? I beleive we are  see the wrath of God because of the the way we treat God’s children, we kill His babies through abortion and we treat the homeless like cattle. Christians need to study the Word of God, and do what God says. Education without action is entertainment. Too many Christians love their entertainment. The workers are few.

From ‘Got Questions’:

The book of wisdom, Proverbs, lays down the principle of giving to the poor and attaches it to a blessing: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done” (Proverbs 19:17). Those who refuse to help the poor will find themselves on the losing end: “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses” (Proverbs 28:27).

In the New Testament, Jesus and His disciples regularly gave to the poor (see John 13:29), and Jesus commands that we follow His example and also care for the poor: “Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you” (Matthew 5:42). As James points out, talk is cheap; our talk (and our faith) must be accompanied by action: “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” (James 2:15–16). What does the Bible say about being homeless / homelessness?
