Have you ever been minding your own business and all of the sudden, a negative or bad thought comes into your mind?
That has happened to me before several times, and at times when that happens, it can bring my day into a gloomy thought process.
For instance, you’ll be minding your business and a thought might come into your mind; “you’re not good enough for God” or this voice will tell you something like, “remember what you did in your past?” or maybe even the thought “are you really a Christian?”
And the list can go on and on.
I hear a lot of friends, and I’ve done it myself, who worry about their children, marriages, finances, health and jobs. Only to think constantly of negative thoughts concerning these situations.
As we read earlier Satan is the the accuser of the brethren. He gives negative thoughts and he wants you down in the pit of despair and concern and fret because he’s also the father of all lies. He’s a liar from the word go!
I don’t want to spend anymore time talking about him, so lets get to the true source of our happiness, the true source of our joy, That’s Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He is the way, He is the Truth and he’s the life.
John 14:6
He is not a man that he should lie.
(Numbers 23:29)
I’ve been trying to seek the face of God more, to know his truth more.
I figure if I know the truth and a lie comes at me, I’ll be able to detect it a mile away
Seeking his face and getting to know him and his character through Scripture, through prayer and through quiet time with him, has really helped me to distinguish between Gods voice and nudging and Satan’s.
I recently had a situation where a “friend” of mine, on my birthday sent me a text to let me know that God had told her that we were not to be friends anymore and then she proceeded to block me so I couldn’t even respond to that nonsense.
After that, I started to have a bad day because I didn’t understand why. Nothing had happened, everything seemed great, and then Satan started working on my mind. He said, “You’re not worthy of friendships. “You’re not good enough.” Then I remembered the truth. You see, those negative thoughts were not from God. Immediately I knew that!
I know my God and I know him well, I seek his face on a daily basis and that was not in his character to say those things. And I know He didn’t tell her that.
The truth is, the word of prophecy is used for edifying, uplifting and building up. Its not meant for destroying a person nor demeaning them.
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.
1 Corinthians 14:33
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
1 Corinthians 13:4-6
“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Psalm 86:15
Always remember, when you’re feeling accused, depressed or maybe just feeling down on yourself, that is not the voice of God. That is not my Father. So you might want to seek his face on that particular matter.
My prayer for you today is that you would listen to the truth, for He is worthy!
