Various news agencies are reporting a sharp increase of illegal crossings into the US from Canada — this in addition to the continuing surge of migrants into the US’ southern border.
According to the New York Post, the US Border Patrol is begging agents to volunteer in the north after a staggering 800%(+) surge of mostly-Mexican migrants illegally crossing into the US from Canada.
The Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector in Vermont has requested a quick turnaround of agents from the overwhelmed southern border to make their way north to volunteer for at least a month starting next week.

As reported by Newsmax, Ronald Vitiello, (former) Acting Director, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, says the migrant surge at the US/Canadian border is because of the policies of President Biden’s administration.

My brothers and sisters, I suppose movement to the northern border was only a matter of time, given the policies of the current US administration. Although the US Constitution does not specifically address immigration, Article IV, Section 4, states, in part, that “[t]he United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion…”.
Persons who are poor, threatened, persecuted for their faith, or who simply desire a better life have emigrated to the US since its founding. This is made possible by the US Constitution, with its resulting freedom, opportunity and blessing. The US is a magnificent and generous country because of God’s blessing and the inspired “great experiment” that is the US Constitution.
Questions need to be asked. What is true compassion in this situation? If security, good order and the rule of law continues to be ignored at the highest level of the US government, at what point does the US become no longer desirable? When does the US cease being a refuge and shining light on a hill? Is it really moral high ground to allow the standard of living, freedoms, safety and opportunities (economic and otherwise) of a country to degrade in an uncontrolled manner? Does this really benefit all and serve the greater good? I would submit, as in all matters, the answer is to first seek God’s wisdom.
For the last 100(+) years, the US has understood the importance of having controlled borders and sound immigration policy, but that seems to no longer be the case. A free-for-all approach is not compassion, neither for our current citizens nor for those who desire to emigrate to the US (or illegally cross).
Let’s pray for the safety and blessing of those risking their lives to come to the US, and yes, let’s also pray for our leaders to seek God’s wisdom in the establishment of proper border and immigration policies.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; [a]nd the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
James 1:5 (NKJV)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
