It is always an honor to spotlight some of the leaders of the modern era of Christian worship music. Paul Joseph Baloche, an ordained minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born on June 4, 1962 in Camden, New Jersey. For 30(+) years, he’s been a highly influential musician, worship leader, and singer/songwriter, with a strong calling to teach and edify other worship leaders and musicians. He pastored Community Christian Fellowship, Lindale, Texas, for 25 years and moved to New York City in 2015, where he currently resides with his wife, Rita.
He’s a multiple Dove Award winning songwriter who travels the globe teaching and leading others in worship. Over the years, he recorded 12 albums for Integrity Music and through Leadworship.com, he developed a series of Master Classes designed to equip and train leaders and worship teams worldwide.
Over his career, he wrote or co-wrote many successful songs for other musical artists, including Michael W. Smith, Matt Redman and Don Moen. Some of the more prominent songs include Open the Eyes of My Heart, Hosanna, Today Is The Day, Above All and A New Hallelujah.
As one who is always ready to worship God in music, I’d like to share a couple Paul Baloche worship songs with you. His song, Open The Eyes Of My Heart, is known worldwide and has probably been played by nearly every US-based worship team at least once! There’s no better time than today to adjourn to the “secret place” to listen and worship along with this song – or share it with others!
