United States Overtakes Russia As Leading Crude Oil Supplier To Europe

The Washington Times reports this morning that the United States has overtaken Russia as the top crude oil supplier to Europe.  This caps a remarkable 12-month period that saw Moscow’s plan to use energy as a weapon fall flat amid strong Western opposition to the war in Ukraine.

The Washington Times article may be read HERE.

My brothers and sisters, even in this writer’s state of New Mexico, the impact of oil and gas exploration, drilling and production can’t be overstated.  With the end of a two-month long legislative session, the state’s budget is somewhat afloat with more-than-usual funds as a direct result of the oil and gas industry.

In the world, oil and gas has proven to be a lifesaver and a lifeline to Europe and elsewhere in times of war, as is the case in Ukraine, with Russia attempting to hold countries hostage as a result of energy needs.

There seems to be incongruent thinking about the God-given gifts of energy that allowed mankind’s standard of living in most countries to jump to remarkable levels and increased life spans over the last century or so.

Even if we presume that climate change, pollution and ideological issues exist, which they do, why does the political response to these issues have to be all-or-nothing and undertaken in an intellectually dishonest way that ignores centuries of benefit from the use of fossil fuels – as opposed to taking a prayerful, measured, and financially-feasible approach to moving toward more renewable energy?

Until the glorious return of Christ, there will always be Vladimir Putins in this world, as it is a fallen world.  Not everyone, sadly, will name Jesus “Lord” and walk out life in the love of Christ, caring for and loving our brothers and sisters of all nations.  Thank God that we haven’t completely cut off our noses to spite our faces yet!

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NLT)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.  As the Scriptures say, ‘He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.’”
