Wisconsin Public Radio (NPR) is reporting that a BNSF Railway train derailed Thursday, at approximately 12:15 PM, near the Village of De Soto in Crawford County, Wisconsin. The train was traveling along the Mississippi River at the time of the derailment, sending several railcars into the river.
State and local first responders have responded to the incident. A Crawford County Emergency Management Specialist told AP News that about 20 cars derailed. The county’s Emergency Management Director, Jim Hackett, reported there was no threat to the public or environmental hazard posed by the derailment.
