In a major blow to Russia, the Associated Press (“AP News”) reports that Finland’s flag was raised at NATO headquarters yesterday, as Finland officially became the newest member nation of the military alliance.
The Nordic country’s membership doubles Russia’s border with the world’s biggest security alliance. Since its defeat by the Soviets in WWII, Finland has adopted neutrality; however, as stated by Finland’s President Sauli Niinistö, “the era of nonalignment in our history has come to an end…a new era begins…”.

My brothers and sisters, how ironic and fitting it is that Finland’s new alliance with NATO was provoked by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s own actions, as Russian continues its unjust and evil war on Ukraine, killing thousands and threatening longstanding security and peace among NATO-aligned nations.
Let’s continue to pray that Russia’s leaders’ eyes would be opened and that a change of heart would result. And, let’s also continue to pray that God’s blessing and favor would rest upon Ukraine – that God would be glorified as the wounds are healed and peace is restored. The answer is always Jesus.
