Fox News is reporting that United States (“US”) Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) shared a tense exchange today during testimony before the US Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
Secretary Haaland was sharply criticized for defending the US Department of Interior’s decision to shutter a critical mineral mine and for banning mineral mining for 20 years within 225,504 acres of northern Minnesota.
When questioned about the resulting lost jobs, she stated there were “1.9 jobs for every American in the country right now” – despite current US Department of Labor data indicating the country has roughly 0.6 unemployed persons per job opening.

My brothers and sisters, with all the legitimate concerns about the US giving up its fossil fuels energy independence under the Biden Administration’s policies, and now concerns about empowering other countries such as China by restricting or eliminating US mining of certain minerals (e.g., cobalt, copper, nickel and platinum) necessary for green technologies such as electric vehicle batteries, we place ourselves in unnecessary danger and economic disadvantage.
Let’s continue to pray for wisdom upon our elected and appointed governmental officials, that they would have the necessary insight and selflessness to make decisions for the benefit of all.
1 Corinthians 3:19 (NKJV)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness.'”
James 1:5 (NKJV)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
