New Mexico Fire Information, an inter-agency effort by state and federal agencies to report timely and accurate fire information, reports that the Las Tusas Fire is burning near New Mexico SR-94, located west of Sapello in San Miguel County.  Structures have reportedly been lost, although details are not yet available.

State, local and federal agencies have responded.  The fire has exceeded approximately 1,000 acres, with gusty winds encouraging fire growth and hampering firefighting efforts.

New Mexico SR-94 is reportedly closed to incoming traffic, with evacuation orders in place for those living along SR-94 from Canoncito to the intersection of SR-266 and SR-94.

Evacuation shelters have been established at Abe Montoya Recreation Center, 1751 N Grand Ave, Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Storrie Lake State Park, 3 Esequiel C De Baca LN, Las Vegas, New Mexico.

My brothers and sisters, let’s pray for God’s intervention in this situation.  Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for a quick end to this fire, and that Your supernatural protection would rest upon all those persons and animals within the fire area, as well as upon the fire fighters and support staff working to end this fire.  Amen!
