Talia Wise with the Christian Broadcasting Network (“CBN”) reports today that White’s Chapel Methodist Church, a megachurch located in Southlake, Texas, left the United Methodist Church (“UMC”) last year and has started its own denomination.
The church overwhelmingly voted last November to disaffiliate itself from the UMC over theological disagreements about same-sex marriage. The 17,500-member church now belongs to a new denomination called the Methodist Collegiate Church.

Let’s continue to lift up our Methodist brothers and sisters in Christ, praying that the wisdom of the Lord would prevail, as the divisions within the UMC run deep. Scripturally-based doctrine is being manipulated to comport with a modern view of certain lifestyle choices which are not in accord with scripture (God’s best for us).
Scripture to consider:
2 Timothy 3:16 (AMP – Classic Edition)
“Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action)…”.
1 Peter 1:16 (NLT)
“For the Scriptures say, ‘You must be holy because I am holy.’”
2 Peter 3:15-16 (ESV)
“And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
