KOB 4 News (Albuquerque, New Mexico) is reporting that the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Natural Resources is investigating ties between US Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and the Pueblo Action Alliance (“PAA”) – an environmental advocacy organization from New Mexico advocating the halting of oil and gas production on public lands.
Committee members sent a letter yesterday to Secretary Haaland requesting documents pertaining to her interactions with the PAA, to include those of her daughter, Somah, who has worked with the PAA and rallied against fossil fuel development.
The request comes just days after Secretary Haaland decided to withdraw hundreds of square miles in New Mexico from oil and gas production for the next 20 years on the outskirts of Chaco Culture National Historical Park.
