“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”

John 14:1

Do you sometimes feel down, alone, discouraged and tired of waiting?

Do you feel lonely and afraid. Not knowing what the future holds?

You are not alone, many people feel this way, on a daily basis.  But here’s some good news to cling to.

”Tell everyone who is discouraged, Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue…”  

Isaiah 35:4 

God wants us to talk to him, even when we are discouraged, tired and frustrated.

“Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.”

Hebrews 4:16

Let your heart be led by what God has promised you and what scripture tells you and not by what you see. 

God does not want us dwelling in anger or other negative, destructive feelings we may have at the moment. This is why we should be honest with God and when we pray to God, we should come as we are and not pretending to be someone we are not. We should be telling him the truth on how we’re feeling.

If we are honest with Him, we will feel a sense of relief and that should lead us to a deeper relationship with God. A deeper relationship will definitely lead to less discouragement.

I read this story and it fits perfect for today’s Devotion:

One day the devil was auctioning off his tools. They were highly priced – laziness, pride, hate, envy, and jealousy. One tool was not for sale. One person asked, “Why is that tool not for sale?” Satan whispered, “I can’t afford to get rid of that one. It’s my chief tool-discouragement! I can pry open any heart with that tool, and once I’m inside, I can do anything I want!”  ~Author Unknown 

We can easily become discouraged when we seek the approval of others or when we try to keep up with someone else’s lifestyle. In a sense, we’re coveting what they have.

When you get discouraged, mainly it’s because we had our hopes and dreams focused on something that’s temporary anyway.

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

Don’t let satan win! Especially when God is the Victor! 

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” 

Psalm 55:22

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

Philippians 4:8
