Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Psalm 105:3-4
Some days are just plain hard. It really seems as though there are a lot more of those days lately.
Many people I know are going through one hardship after another. None of us are exempt from these trials.
The good thing we know as Christians, is that we have God with us through those trials. It doesn’t always make our trials feel good, but at least they’re bearable.
Recently we’ve had so many trials as a family.
Seeking God’s face and looking to him for strength, was the key to handling these hardships.
I’ve heard people wonder, “why serve a God who could do these things?” Their undertone is one of anger towards God for something awful that might’ve happen in their life.
But to that I say, if these trials were coming anyway, and bad things happened anyway, what’s the sense in being mad at the one that comforts us?
You see, at the beginning, in the Garden, Adam and Eve chose to sin. They were deceived and they sinned and God could not allow sin in that perfect setting. At that moment, sin entered man’s heart and scripture tells us “the heart is deceitful above all else.” (Jeremiah 17:9)
It’s peoples evil intentions that cause problems. So again, why would I be mad at the creator of all good things, the one that comforts me, the one that grant’s me peace?
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
Seeking God’s face means desiring to know His character and wanting Him and wanting His presence, more than any other thing He can give us.
When we want to spend the rest of our lives with someone, for all eternity as well, doesn’t it make sense that we’d want to know them personally and intimately here and now?
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me”
Proverbs 8:17
My goal has been, for some time now, to seek his face and stay at the throne of grace, to camp out there and to pitch my tent in the land of hope!
If we spend all our time worrying, we eventually become weary and worn. It’s because we’re focused on the negative. But when we focus on Christ and seek him, then all the positively good things will be added.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Psalm 27:8
Regarding past sins; When we think things like “How could I have done those things? What was I thinking?” (Sometimes the thoughts can be cringeworthy)
Remember, you weren’t thinking! It’s a good idea to pray about it and find out why you weren’t thinking this through and why the outcome of said sin didn’t scare the tar out of you. And it’s a good reminder that only God’s grace kept us from doing some things that could have had far more serious consequences, eternal and physical.
No matter how guilty you’re feeling, or how bad you’re feeling about your past as well, it’s never too late to start seeking the face of God, and to look to him for our strength.
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”
Proverbs 18:10
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Rest in Christ!
Many Blessing’s,
