And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Matthew 12:31-32
Did you ever wonder what the unforgivable (unpardonable) sin was?
There is a ton of territory to cover on this subject, but for now, here’s a brief answer.
There was a time where Jesus was healing the sick and the Scribes and Pharisees came out and said that it was through Beelzebub that he was performing these miracles. Therefore, taking away God’s authority and denying he had power. In essence, insulting the work and mission in the Holy Spirit.
These religious leaders were denying the deity of Christ. They were saying He could not be God. His miracles should have been proof enough for them, but instead they put him in a league with Satan.
Then again, there are the times when the Holy Spirit is convicting somebody. Pointing them towards Christ and calling them, but there are many people that will deny this help.
Sometimes they will say, “I’ll get saved on my death bed,” but the problem with that is that your heart may be hardened by then. Or, they may not make it to the death bed, they may die long before old age.
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
Matthew 12:30
You have to make a decision towards God and stop denying his Spirit’s tug.
Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.
Proverbs 29:1
The sad part is to harden your heart without remedy.
Jesus said: “When He [the Holy Spirit] comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment”
John 16:8
It’s not my job to make you feel guilty; that’s the job of the Holy Spirit, because only the Spirit of God can bring true conviction of sin.
The word blasphemy means to “speak against.” So blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when a person says, “No,” to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. In that moment he or she is speaking against the Holy Spirit.
If you continue to reject the Lord, your heart and soul can become hardened until the conviction of the Spirit of God no longer registers in your heart.
If you hear the word if God in any way, shape or form and it has no impact on you, you may be headed for a bad outcome.
And, If you die in that condition, you’re risking a chance that there will be no forgiveness available.
He died for you, and if you reject Him, there is no other sacrifice for your sin.
Blasphemy against the Spirit—the unforgivable sin—is ongoing hardening of your heart against the Holy Spirit who is trying to lead you to repent of sin and believe in Christ. Furthermore, it is an issue of the heart that manifests in your words.

You have to know fully the identity of Jesus, and who He really is in order to understand this concept. You have to know Him personally and answer his call.
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.
Acts 16:31
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”
John 14:6
It’s through the power of God’s Holy Spirit that we are saved.
I’ve concluded that if you know Christ personally (not just think or hope you do) but on a personal level where you want to be obedient to his word and you feel worried or overwhelmed with guilt when you sin, chances are that Christ hasn’t left or abandoned you… you’re safe!
Many Blessings,
