Fox News is reporting that thousands of migrants crossing through Mexico have used dozens of freight trains – informally known as “The Beast” – to hitch a dangerous ride to the US/Mexico border before crossing into the US illegally.
Earlier this week, the Mexican railway company Ferromex temporarily suspended the operation of 60 trains in northern Mexico as migrants were being injured while climbing aboard the freight cars. Mexico’s National Migration Institute has since deployed agents to dissuade people from climbing aboard.
The Fox News article may be read HERE.
The following is a NBC News YouTube video reporting on Mexico’s Ferromex trains – The Beast – carrying illegal immigrants toward the US:
During the video, it’s reported that the Mexican government was compelled to intervene and that the trains were suspended because of an unprecedented volume of asylum seekers – overwhelming officials on both the Mexican and the US sides of the border.
My brothers and sisters, compassion is of Christ, but so is godly wisdom. Simply ignoring our country’s borders and willingly flaunting federal law damages our system of justice, overwhelms local law enforcement agencies, depletes municipal budgets, and increases the risk of violence to all because of the inherent desperation of both the migrants and many impacted US citizens.
Ironically, the end result of freewheeling migration could be the inability to compassionately serve “the least of these” and bring harm to both sides, not compassion.
By way of example, look at the State of New York. See CNN’s photographic report about migrants camping in New York City HERE.
We need to continue to pray, for the sake of our nation, that the wisdom of God (and not political ideology) will lead the men and women making governmental decisions about migration. Let’s be sure to lift up our local leaders, as they make the day-to-day decisions about how best to manage the uncontrolled influx of migrants throughout our nation. There are no easy answers from the perspective and wisdom of the world, but with God, all things are possible!
Psalm 145:8 (NKJV)
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, [s]low to anger and great in mercy.”
Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
James 1:5 (NKJV)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Matthew 19:26 (Amplified Bible)
“But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘[w]ith people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”
1 Corinthians 3:19 (NKJV)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness…'”.
And, let’s not forget that the Father loves ALL OF US just as He loves Jesus!
John 17:20-23 (NKJV)
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me [emphasis mine].”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
