Shocking Report:

Abortion Rate Expands 220% in New Mexico

Greatest Increase Than Any Other State

This week, the Albuquerque Journal reported on a study released by the abortion industry’s research arm, The Guttmacher Institute, that indicates New Mexico’s abortion rate has increased by nearly 220%. According to the report:  Between January 2020 and June 2023, New Mexico saw a larger increase in abortion than any other state.

New Mexico Alliance for Life has found, according to the CDC, the majority of abortion increases are indeed from out-of-state residents. The report contributes the increase primarily to abortion bans in neighboring states, specifically the six-week abortion ban in Texas: There were 6,480 more abortions between January 2020 to June 2023. That amounts to a 220% increase. By comparison, in 2019 there were only 2,700 abortions in the state.

Sadly University of New Mexico abortionist, Dr. Lisa Hofler, who was sued for delaying life-saving medical care in the ER for Keisha Atkins, who died during an elective late-term abortion claims in the article, “abortion patients are dying” as a result of abortion bans–rather than abortions.

Additionally New Mexico Alliance for Life reported on the fact that University of New Mexico Medical Investigator, in the death of Keisha Atkins appears to cover up the cause of death, falsely attributed to “pulmonary embolism related to pregnancy,” rather than a septic abortion. In fact, UNM abortionist quoted in the above report, Dr. Hofler who treated Atkins in the ER, along with experts at UNM agree: Atkins’ cause of death was a septic abortion.

This raises the question as to how many other women have actually died from abortion in New Mexico? Despite the abortion lobby’s claim that abortion is safe and should be considered “health care.”

“New Mexico Alliance for Life has uncovered at least 51 medical emergencies sent to UNM Hospital from one Albuquerque abortion clinic alone, of those how many resulted in death like Keisha Atkins,” said New Mexico Alliance for Life Executive Director Elisa Martinez. “Is the University of New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator covering up any additional deaths, to protect their abortionists and the abortion industry?”
