The Associated Press (“AP News”) is reporting that North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has vowed “full and unconditional support” for Russian President Vladimir Putin today, as the two leaders held a four-hour summit at Russia’s spaceport in the Far East.

The summit underscores the two countries’ alignment of interests, in which President Putin is believed to be seeking ammunition and Soviet-era rockets from North Korea and Kim Jong Un is believed to be seeking food and missile technology from Russia.  The United States is concerned that the summit could lead to a deal that supplies ammunition for Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

My brothers and sisters, both North Korean and Russia are especially isolated right now.  It’s never been more clear that this is an evil alliance being used by each side to bolster and avoid the loss of each leaders’ internal power and control, while attempting to create an international sense of political and diplomatic normalcy through a face-to-face meeting.

If pride and outward appearance were all that was at stake, it wouldn’t be so worrisome to the United States and other western nations, but this alliance represents – among many other things – a means to lengthen the war in Ukraine, leading to substantially more deaths and infrastructure destruction.  This alliance also provides the means for North Korea to achieve what it views as “respect” by continuing to increase its nuclear and conventional war-fighting abilities through Russian missile technology, while simultaneously maintaining control over its own citizens by satiating their hunger with Russian food products.

Let’s agree in prayer that this alliance would not bear fruit and that both countries’ leaders would come to understand that threatening other nations of the world in petulant arrogance is not the way to success.  Father, open their eyes and ears to the things of God and may the Holy Spirit begin to “tenderize” their hearts, in Jesus’ name!

Matthew 15:18-20 (NKJV)
“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.  These are the things which defile a man…”.

Luke 6:45 (NLT)
“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.  What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
