All my life I remember being told that “if one forgets (negative) history, one is doomed to repeat it,” or some variation of this. How true this has proven to be.
It seems to only take two to three generations for all that may have been experienced and learned to be forgotten, or worse, denied through intellectual dishonesty, utter self-absorption and trusting in the wisdom of the world instead of the truth of the bible.
When I was in 7th grade, I had to get permission from my parents to watch a film about the Holocaust so that as young students, we’d understand the evil perpetrated by Germany’s Nazi war efforts – which resulted in the genocide of roughly six million Jews (and the murders of millions of others).
I remember sitting in the chemistry lab watching the dead bodies thrown into pits and the grossly emaciated persons with sunken eyes being liberated by the Allied Forces from the concentration camps in the US military films intentionally taken to document the war crimes and for the sake of our posterity.
And now, many young persons and so many of our academic institutions sit idly by as Hamas terrorists are glorified and subhuman acts of violence and murder are deemed “justified” by those who adhere to a false religious belief and a false god. Chants of “gas the Jews” are being reported by the press with nominal indignation, as if this was sad, but not that big of a deal. [See recent FGGAM articles about this HERE, HERE and HERE.]
This is a HUGE DEAL for those of us who learned history and love the LORD. God help us!
The land of Israel and the Jewish people are God’s chosen (see Deuteronomy 7:6 and Psalm 132:13). On the Day of the Lord, Jesus will again return to Israel (see 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10). We should meditate on the significance of this.
Got Questions has an informative article about what it means that the Jews are God’s chosen people, which may be read HERE.
The Palestinian people have been abandoned by all of their Arab neighbors. Since 2006, when the Sunni Islamist militant group Hamas won the majority in the Palestinian Legislative Council elections, Hamas has cultivated a culture and identity of hate among the Palestinian people. Many Palestinians are now more interested in promoting evil and seeking the destruction of the Jews than seeking peace and helping themselves.
Everything about the Hamas, Hezbollah and Iranian war against Israel affirms the truth of the scriptures. According to Ephesians 6:12, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places – in other words, our enemy is Satan.
Praise God that we can put our ENTIRE trust in Jesus, our Victor, who destroyed the plan of the evil one on the cross of Calvary and through His resurrection from the grave! Unlike the false gods of our age, Jesus is not only alive and well, He sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us (see Romans 8:34).
Here are some supporting scriptures:
Deuteronomy 7:6 (NKJV)
“For you [the Jews] are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”
Psalm 132:13 (NKJV)
“For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place…”.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-10 (NKJV)
The Day of the Lord
“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.”
Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, [and] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Romans 8:33-34 (Amplified Bible)
“Who will bring any charge against God’s elect (His chosen ones)? It is God who justifies us [declaring us blameless and putting us in a right relationship with Himself]. Who is the one who condemns us? Christ Jesus is the One who died [to pay our penalty], and more than that, who was raised [from the dead], and who is at the right hand of God interceding [with the Father] for us.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
