The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (Lubbock, TX) reports that on Monday, October 23, 2023, the Lubbock County Commissioners Court passed an ordinance banning abortion, abortion-inducing drugs and travel for abortion in the unincorporated areas of Lubbock County, declaring Lubbock County a “Sanctuary County for the Unborn.”
The ordinance passed by a vote of 3-0 with two members abstaining, making Lubbock County the largest jurisdiction in Texas to adopt an abortion-related travel ban.

The Texas Tribune (Austin, TX) is also reporting in this matter, stating that the Lubbock County travel ban would be enforced through private lawsuits filed against the people who “knowingly transport any individual for the purpose of providing or obtaining an elective abortion, regardless of where the elective abortion will occur.” It would not punish the pregnant woman.

According to a Bloomberg News report on June 24, 2022, US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh opined that states outlawing abortion may not bar residents from traveling to other states to terminate their pregnancies, saying “[m]ay a state bar a resident of that state from traveling to another state to obtain an abortion? In my view, the answer is no based on the constitutional right to interstate travel.” [NOTE: The Bloomberg News article may be viewed HERE, although a subscription may be required.]
My brothers and sisters, as is almost always the case, there are legitimate concerns regarding the legal sufficiency of such ordinances, but praise God that Texas has so often shown a strong willingness to end the evil practice of abortion – which is the intentional taking of an innocent human life!
The Lubbock County (Texas) ordinance DOES NOT criminalize the actions of the pregnant woman, but makes it clear that the county values life.
The willful killing of God’s children is a sin and is not of God. We are cherished and loved by God! He knew us before we were ever formed in our mother’s wombs! Do we fear man more than we fear God? Do we believe the bible or not? Do we know better about these things than God Almighty? I stand with Jesus!
Here is some scripture to consider:
Exodus 20:13 (Amplified Bible)
“You shall not commit murder (unjustified, deliberate homicide).”
Psalm 34:14 (NKJV)
“Depart from evil and do good; [s]eek peace and pursue it.”
Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT)
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank [Y]ou for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in [Y]our book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”.
1 John 3:4 (Amplified Bible)
“Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness [ignoring God’s law by action or neglect or by tolerating wrongdoing—being unrestrained by His commands and His will].”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
