CNN is reporting that at least 18 people were killed Wednesday evening (10/25/2023) in two mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine, with one shooting at a restaurant (Schemengees Bar & Grille) and another shooting at a bowling alley (Sparetime Recreation). Dozens more have been injured, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
Lewiston is Maine’s second largest city with a population of roughly 38,000 and is located about 36 miles north of Portland, Maine. An intensive manhunt is underway for a suspect, with Lewiston Police Department implementing a “shelter in place” directive for local citizens.
Police have identified Robert Card (40), of Bowdoin, Maine, as the alleged shooter. Witnesses say that persons of all ages were shot, including teenagers.

According to the Kennebec Journal, Maine State Police are searching for 40-year-old Robert Card in connection to the two shootings at Schemengees Bar & Grille and Sparetime Recreation.
According to Maine State Police, Robert Card is a certified firearms instructor with the US Army Reserve and that he recently reported mental health issues – including hearing voices. He spent two weeks at a mental health facility this summer and reportedly threatened a shooting at the Army National Guard Post in Saco, Maine.
