WTVO Channel 17 | WQRF Fox 39 (“WTVO/WQRF”) (Rockford, IL) is reporting that Russia tested its emergency alert systems today, on the same day the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency and Federal Communications Commission completed the United States’ (“US”) nationwide tests of the Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alerts System.
Following recent Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow and other cities, sirens blared in cities across Russia this morning as the Russian Defense Ministry broadcast television warnings stating that readiness of the public warning system was being tested and to “please remain calm!”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered large-scale drills simulating the country’s response to a nuclear attack and implementing martial law under a narrative that 70% of housing in the country has been destroyed.

MSN reports today that Russia conducted its first nationwide civil defense exercise as President Vladimir Putin is attempting, allegedly, to scare Russians into thinking that western nations are going to start a nuclear war with Moscow. Sirens and loudspeakers have sounded in all regions across Russia’s 11 time zones over the last two days.
In some areas, schoolchildren were taught how to wear gas masks. In other areas, officials were forced into bunkers. The exercise was based on the assumption of a giant nuclear attack from the West.

The New York Times is reporting that recent satellite imagery and aviation data suggest that Russia may be preparing to test an experimental nuclear-powered cruise missile — or may have recently tested one — with a theoretical range of thousands of miles.
Movements of aircraft and vehicles at and near a base in Russia’s remote Arctic region are consistent with preparations that were made for tests of the missile, known as the Burevestnik or SSC-X-9 Skyfall, in 2017 and 2018.
US surveillance planes have also been tracked in the area over the last two weeks, and aviation alerts have warned pilots to avoid nearby airspace.

My brothers and sisters, there certainly seems to be concern in Russia about the use of nuclear weapons, whether on its own behalf or in an unrealistic belief that the US or its allies would initiate a nuclear attack on the Russian people.
Of course, it’s President Putin himself who has made several comments or threats about the use of nuclear weapons since he initiated the unprovoked war against Ukraine.
Wisdom in this matter is to routinely question and seek clarity as to the US government’s intentions and goals, as it rarely discloses anything of consequence to its citizens in such matters – at least not in a timely manner, routinely citing operational security and classified military or CIA information.
For its part, Russia is to ALWAYS be questioned, as it routinely puts out misinformation (or a lack of information) to its citizens and other countries around the globe. Wisdom, it seems, is to never PRESUME that an attack is completely out of the question, as the most effective time to bring any such attack is when countries have been pacified by multiple and continuing empty threats, and have become complacent.
The concern this writer has about the US federal government’s back and forth commenting and policy decisions regarding Ukraine includes the misguided view that an answer to this problem is to be found in rigid mutually exclusive (and/or, if this/then that) thinking. The US must be shrewd in its comprehension of the situation and deliberate in the manner in which it proceeds. While I’d never desire for the US to enter any war unnecessarily, it’s an absolute fact and matter of record that following WWII and the Cold War with the former Soviet Union, military strength assured, or helped to assure, peace around the globe following the US’ use of nuclear weapons ending WWII. May the Lord have mercy upon us.
Let’s pray for godly wisdom and favor to rest upon our current governmental officials, and especially the decision makers, and also for godly wisdom and cool heads to prevail in Russia. The citizens of the US and of Russia should be timely informed, not left out in the dark about such critical matters of life and death. The war in Ukraine must be brought to a just and swift end; however, ending the war in a manner that enables the goals and ambitions of a leader such as President Putin would be horribly misguided. We will stop him now, or we will almost certainly have to stop him later. The choice is very much up to the free nations of the world.
By the way, there is no reason to assume that US citizens are incapable of comprehending the situation and thereby justifying the federal government’s patronizing of the public, whether through a lack of information or watered-down, inaccurate and/or withheld information.

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NKJV)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”
Proverbs 11:12 (NKJV)

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
