On September 29, 2023, Cassy Fiano-Chesser, writing for LIVE ACTION, prepared an article discussing a recent interview between the Albuquerque Journal and the University of New Mexico Hospital’s (“UNMH”) Medical Director for Women’s Services, Dr. Lisa Hofler.
According to the Albuquerque Journal‘s write up of the interview, Dr. Hofler spoke about the so-called importance of abortion, claiming that women are dying because they can’t have abortions; yet, she failed to offer any proof of this happening and also failed to mention that at least one woman’s life was lost to legal abortion on her watch in 2017.
What is never acknowledged is that women die from legal abortion. In 2017, Keisha Atkins lost her life during the process of a second trimester abortion directly involving UNM doctors, to include Dr. Hofler, and abortionists from Southwestern Women’s Options (“SWO”) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the abortion procedure was initially performed.

My brothers and sisters, may the Lord have mercy upon us! The State of New Mexico has embraced a culture of death by proudly supporting unbiblical and evil policies on several fronts – and most notably regarding abortion. New Mexico citizen’s tax dollars, whether one agrees with abortion or not, are encumbered and spent to promote the killing of unborn babies, including support for UNM, UNMH, Planned Parenthood and the State of New Mexico’s proposed mega-abortion facility in Las Cruces.
This is an issue that has even impacted bible-believing, church-going persons and conservatives running for political office in New Mexico. For example, Mark Ronchetti recently ran for governor against the current (and then incumbent) New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham while openly signaling a willingness to consider or accept a 15-week limit for abortions up front – which according to multiple estimates would authorize 90% to 95% of all abortions. That should not be considered a “pro-life” position!
The killing of our unborn children should never be considered a routine political issue best handled through simple negotiation and the making of a deal – and certainly not when what is at stake is a compromise formally establishing the legality of approximately 95% of all abortions. The willful and intentional killing of God’s children is a sin and is not of God. We are cherished and loved by God! He knew us before we were ever formed in our mother’s wombs! Do we fear man more than we fear God? Do we believe the bible or not? Do we know better about these things than God Almighty? I stand with Jesus!
