If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
The biggest reasons so many of God’s children are living defeated lives, is because of guilt and shame. Two of Satan’s biggest weapons against us.
Guilt and shame tear us down, it makes us feel dirty and unworthy and robs of us of our faith, our joy and our confidence.
Being that we are only human, we’ve all made many mistakes. We must repent to the Lord, and then He remembers the sins no more. If we are sincerely sorry, (that’s pretty much all we can do about our situation anyway, is to repent), then God will meet us where we are at. He carries our burdens.
Only Satan reminds us of our past mistakes, don’t listen to him. He’s the father of all lies!
Jesus not only came to cleanse us from our sins, but also set us free from the guilt of our sins.
When we make mistakes, we should be sorry and sincerely repent, of course.
We should confess our sin, take responsibility for our dumb choices then turn away from repeating it and try again.
Remember, God’s grace is not a license to sin though.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
In Christ, however, there is no condemnation. You are no longer a slave to your past. You are redeemed and made new.
There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1
By the grace of God alone and for those who are in Christ, we will not face the condemnation of God. We have passed from death to life. We have no condemnation.
We are declared to be found innocent of the accusation, to have no sentence inflicted and no guilty verdict found.
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39
