This week our daughter Gretchen said to me, “Dad there are so many mean people in Albuquerque.” Also this week I witnessed an elderly lady yelling at a very nice young man named Jonathan. This was in the checkout lane at Smiths. Jonathan is a very kind young man who is a cashier. I Love getting in his line. For some unknown reason this lady really gave him a ‘dressing down’ as we said back in the day. It hurt him very much. I gave Jonathon a pep talk, and then he said, “Dewey, It is getting worse, people are so mean, such a lack of patience.” It is not only Albuquerque, it is all over America. Gretchen said so many people do not have social skills. Amen to that! So many people did not have parents to teach them. Satan has torn apart the social fabric of America. What blows me away, is the number of people my age and older that can be so very unkind, both men and women. This is why we minister in the grocery stores, post office, bank, gas station, restaurants, just everywhere!
To me the Bible is the greatest social skills teacher! BUT! Only 4% of American’s have a Biblical Worldview. Barna Research. The Church is doing a very poor job of reaching the lost. The greatest failure of the American Church in the last two decades is in not carrying out The Great Commission , lack of baptizing and raising up mature Christians! How many baptisims has your Church officiated in the last five years? Is your Church growing? Does your Church have a strong Sunday school program? Is your Church raising up the young people in your community to be mature Christians?
Look at our politics!!! What a cesspool!
America needs a come to JESUS meeting, the ONLY thing that will save us.
The following message is from Churchleaders.
David Brooks wrote an important article for the Atlantic that was simply titled, “How America Got Mean.” His conclusion was both insightful and deeply disturbing.
No one denies that we’ve become a mean-spirited culture. We’ve become increasingly rude and cruel and abusive and violent. Whether it’s toward a waiter at a restaurant, a nurse at a hospital, a teacher at a school or road rage on the interstate, we’ve become…mean. Coupled with this is our increasing lack of compassion and empathy for others. In 2000, two-thirds of American households gave to charity. In 2018, fewer than half did. More Here
