Newsmax reports that London’s Metropolitan Police is investigating Israel for committing alleged war crimes in Gaza. The Metropolitan Police defends its actions by citing its support of New Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Team, which is “obliged to support any investigations opened by the International Criminal Court (“ICC”) that could involve British subjects” under the terms of the 1998 Rome Statute.
Metropolitan Police posted signs in Arabic and English at major British airports appealing for information and stating: “[i]f you have been in Israel/Palestinian Territories and have witnessed or been a victim of terrorism, war crimes or crimes against humanity, then you can report this to the UK police.”
However, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and others have blasted New Scotland Yard’s decision to seek information from anyone returning from Israel or Gaza, stating that New Scotland Yard’s actions mark a “worrying politicization of the Met Police.”
The Newsmax article may be read in full HERE.
In response, Metropolitan Police posted a statement titled “Support Provided To The International Criminal Court” on its website providing clarification in this matter, and claiming that it HAS NOT independently opened or conducted its own UK-based war crimes investigations, but has coordinated information with the ICC.
At the time this article was published, and in reviewing the Metropolitan Police’s website, this writer noted several links where persons could report crimes, but nothing specific to war crimes or the Israel-Hamas war – although there is a link provided to report issues not otherwise specifically identified.
My brothers and sisters, the nature of war will never be sanitary and frankly, what is or is not a war crime is not always a simple determination. When terrorists forcibly, through deceit or otherwise, integrate into the civilian population and operate clandestinely from (or hidden underneath) civilian facilities, including hospitals and residential areas, there will always be unavoidable, innocent deaths – as the alternative is to allow evil to prevail and to never fight a war.
Besides, knowing whether an attacked target was of military value is not something most civilians, even doctors, will be able to determine, as the actionable intelligence is usually classified and maintained to assure operational security and the protection of those fighting the battles. In fact, throughout WWII, the intentional bombing of citizens and non-military targets became an understood and accepted means of breaking the morale of the enemy. It was the reason that modern-day wars are fought in a manner to avoid civilian casualties.
For example, according to a Britannica article, London was mercilessly bombed during “The Blitz” (September 7, 1940–May 11, 1941). The Blitz was an intense bombing campaign undertaken by Nazi Germany against the United Kingdom, during which the Luftwaffe dropped bombs on London and other strategic cities across Britain. The attacks were authorized by Germany’s chancellor, Adolf Hitler, after the British carried out a nighttime air raid on Berlin. Of course, WWII was ended in the Pacific Theater through the United States’ dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan’s civilian population.
Bottom Line: The answer to all of the hate, arrogance, jealously and promotion of false religion and gods is as old as time itself. The Answer was, is and will always be, Jesus! The wisdom of the world inevitably involves ungodly, fleshly and worldly emotions, opinions, and narrow views of life experiences presumed to be “correct” for the entire world, and so forth. I’ve said it a hundred times and will say it a thousand times more – the Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus!
Some scripture to consider:
John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)
“The Lord is not slack [slow, tardy] concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering [patient] toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance [emphasis mine].”
Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV)
“For the Lord gives wisdom; [f]rom His mouth come knowledge and understanding…”.
1 Corinthians 3:18-19 (NKJV)
“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God [emphasis mine]. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness…’”.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (Amplified Bible)
A Time for Everything
“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—[a] time to be born and a time to die; [a] time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; [a] time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; [a] time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones; [a] time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; [a] time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; [a] time to keep silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; [a] time for war and a time for peace [emphasis mine].”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
