NBC News reports that a New Mexico grand jury indicted Actor Alec Baldwin yesterday (1/19/2024) in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins was killed in 2021 after a stage prop handgun held by Baldwin discharged a live round of ammunition during filming of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico.
The decision to indict Baldwin for one count of involuntary manslaughter was announced after a New Mexico grand jury heard evidence presented by special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis. A trial date has not been set, but if convicted, Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison.
The grand jury’s indictment comes after New Mexico prosecutors dismissed the involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin in April 2023.

On January 31, 2023, NBC News reported that the State of New Mexico initially filed involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin. This article may be read HERE.
My brothers and sisters, justice needs to be “just.” If Baldwin has told untruths to avoid potential culpability or responsibility in the death of another person (and the injury of a second person), then so be it.
It should not be forgotten that the armorer hired to work on the “Rust” movie set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was previously charged with involuntary manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty. Her trial is set to begin in New Mexico on February 21, 2024.
As believers, let’s pray for a resolution in this matter that is based on the love of God and the truth. We know that the Lord will take even our most unfortunate circumstances and turn them for our good and His glory (see Romans 8:28). Let’s pray that justice is done, that compassion is shown (see Psalm 145:8), that lessons are learned, and that no person – whether prosecutor, defender or judge – will allow untruth, arrogance or self-promotion to prevail in this matter (see Proverbs 16:18 and 19:5). Amen!
Here are the above-referenced scriptures:

Psalm 145:8 (NKJV)
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, [s]low to anger and great in mercy.”

Proverbs 19:5 (NKJV)

Praise Jesus forevermore!
