Newsmax is reporting that the 10-day search to rescue two U.S. Navy SEALs lost in the Arabian Sea during a mission on January 11, 2024 has ended.  U.S. Central Command issued a press statement saying that the search is now a recovery effort.  The identity of the deceased SEALs is being withheld at this time.

During the 10-day search and rescue operation, ships and aircraft from the U.S., Japan and Spain searched more than 21,000 square miles.

Launching from the USS Lewis B. Puller, and backed by drones and helicopters, the January 11, 2024 raid targeted an unflagged ship carrying illicit Iranian-made weapons to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.  Military officials said that as the SEAL team was boarding the ship, one of the SEALs went under in the heavy seas and a teammate went in to try and save him.  Both perished.

FGGAM honors those who are willing to sacrifice their own lives for others and in service to our country (see 1 John 3:16 and John 15:13).  May the Lord bring peace and comfort to the family, friends and coworkers who are grieving the loss of these two brave and selfless men (see Matthew 5:4).

Here are the above-referenced scriptures:

1 John 3:16 (NKJV)
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.  And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

John 15:13 (NLT)
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Matthew 5:4 (NKJV)
“Blessed are those who mourn, [f]or they shall be comforted.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
