The Associated Press (“AP News”) is reporting this morning that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is considering the dismissal of Ukraine’s top military officer, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, as part of a broader leadership shakeup. Zelenskyy stated that he was contemplating the move to ensure the country remains led by individuals who are convinced of victory against Russia and that “a reset, a new beginning, is necessary.”
A rift between Zaluzhnyi and Zelenskyy came to light last fall over the Ukrainian military’s request to mobilize up to 500K troops and whether the war with Russian was stalemated. Zaluzhnyi published two essays citing the need for Ukraine to maintain air superiority, to extend its efficiency in countering enemy artillery, to build up the military reserves, and to increase electronic warfare capabilities.
Ukraine desperately needs more Western military assistance just as the U.S. Congress is blocking an additional aid package. Zaluzhnyi’s potential dismissal brought rejoicing in Russia, with Russian Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating that Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal exposes rifts in Ukrainian leadership.

My brothers and sisters, let’s not allow the passing of nearly two years cause us to forget the basic facts regarding the Russia-Ukraine War. Russia attacked the sovereign country of Ukraine and would have taken the entire country and killed its president if it could have. One of its first actions was to murder the country’s beloved symphony orchestra conductor, Yuri Kerpatenko, who refused to publicly express support for Russia (as reported HERE by FGGAM).
The world was outraged, pretty much unanimously, against Russia’s aggression, as thousands were killed and aerial attacks continue in an effort to terrorize the civilian population and to destroy or hamper the country’s infrastructure, food supplies and energy needs. Threats of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons abound to this day.
Meanwhile, because of political posturing in the United States, Congress is now withholding additional aid to support Ukraine against Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is a brutal, calculating, former Cold War-minded and KGB-trained killer.
No country (including the United States) is completely free of political posturing and disfunction, and sometimes even corruption. This writer, through it all, remains concerned that many in the U.S. have forgotten the years of blood, sweat, tears, lives, money and effort put into destroying the former Soviet Union and the mindset that is displayed by Putin – which is a holdout from the Cold War “glory days” and is very dangerous.
Regardless of our individual political views, let’s come into agreement and pray for the end of this war, as men, women and children are suffering and dying needlessly every single day. This war of attrition does not bode well in the long run for Ukraine. In fact, it seems that Western nations, including or especially the Untied States, send Ukraine just enough money and arms – often delayed and with strings or rules attached – to assure that the killing continues to a stalemate, but never to a victory.
Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV)
“Wisdom is the principal thing; [t]herefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV)
“For the Lord gives wisdom; [f]rom His mouth come knowledge and understanding…”.
Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, [b]ut the companion of fools will be destroyed.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (Amplified Bible)
A Time for Everything
“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—[a] time to be born and a time to die; [a] time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; [a] time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; [a] time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones; [a] time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; [a] time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; [a] time to keep silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; [a] time for war and a time for peace [emphasis mine].”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
