It was interesting to read several news articles this morning stating out loud what this writer has been privately wondering about for a while.
The Christian Broadcasting Network (“CBN”) is reporting that the divide between the United States government and Israel is growing over the war in Gaza. The rift between the Biden administration and the Netanyahu coalition is coming to a crossroads, with tensions centering around Israel’s intention to advance into Rafah – the last Hamas stronghold in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the annual AIPAC Conference that Israel would destroy Hamas and free the Israeli hostages, stating that “we will finish the job in Rafah while enabling the civilian population to get out of harm’s way.” He further stated that “Israel’s very future, its very survival, is at stake. We have no other option but total victory.”
CBN reports that behind the scenes, many see signs the Biden administration is trying to overthrow the Netanyahu government.

According to AXIOS, President Biden has begun a tricky maneuver by breaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Gaza war strategy — while sticking with Israel and its fight against Hamas, which is still holding hostages.
During his recent State of the Union Speech, President Biden was relatively restrained in his criticism of the Israeli government; however, during a post-speech discussion with Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), Biden was caught on a “hot” microphone expressing a much harsher point of view, stating that “I told Bibi you and I are going to have a come-to-Jesus meeting.”

For its part, the Washington Examiner reported yesterday (3/12/2024) that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspects that President Joe Biden’s team aims to “overthrow” his government, judging from Jerusalem’s furious response to a recent U.S. intelligence assessment of the leader’s political vulnerability.
An unnamed senior Israeli official stated the following to multiple Israeli media outlets yesterday: “[t]hose who elect the Prime Minister of Israel are the citizens of Israel and no one else. Israel is not a protectorate of the USA but an independent and democratic country whose citizens are the ones who elect the government. We expect our friends to act to overthrow the terror regime of Hamas and not the elected government in Israel [emphasis mine].”

And finally, The Jerusalem Post is reporting today, according to a senior Israeli political official (who some believe may be Netanyahu himself), that the Biden administration is attempting to overthrow Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
The United States recently released an annual Threat Assessment, warning that Netanyahu’s coalition could be replaced by a more moderate one, and stating that “Netanyahu’s viability as leader as well as his governing [coalition] of far-right and ultra-orthodox parties that pursue hardline policies on Palestinian and security issues may be in doubt.”
In response, the unnamed Israeli official stated that “we [Israel] expect our friends to act to overthrow the terror regime of Hamas and not the elected government in Israel.”

My brothers and sisters, it is widely accepted that the only remaining holdout for Hamas brigades, leadership and even the location of the remaining hostages, is in or near Rafah. Israel’s goals of once-and-for-all ridding the country of Hamas terrorists (who by the way, have done no favors for law-abiding and peaceful Palestinian persons living in Gaza) and creating an environment of peace, safety and security for the Palestinian people, will be well on the way to completion following the promised Israeli military operations in Rafah. This presumes, of course, that Hezbollah does not further provoke Israel into another outright northern front in the war.
Yes, I am shocked by the photographs, videos and first-person stories of hunger, disease and death ongoing in Gaza. War is hell and it’s anything but desirable; however, the blame for all of this falls directly upon Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and to some degree, those who voted for and continue to support Hamas’ rule in Gaza.
I am further shocked by the attitude of the Biden administration regarding Israel, which continues to put forth statements saying that the U.S. believes Israel has the right to defend itself, BUT… Israel does not need the United States’ ‘blessing’ to have the right to defend itself from an existential threat! How incredibly arrogant and disappointing, as Israel is the one true democratic country and our only reliable and (typically) like-minded ally in all of the entire Middle East! The United States would never put up with Israel attempting to direct military operations being undertaken by the U.S. armed forces. Something is very wrong, politically and spiritually, in Washington.
Israel, for its part, was thrust into the war following Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack. Israel is fighting an existential battle to protect the integrity of the nation, and to prevent additional and often repeated past attacks by Israel’s neighbors and Iran-sponsored terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah – which continue to boldly assert that the goal is to wipe Israel and the Jews from the face of the earth.
My brothers and sisters, protesters blindly supporting Hamas, whether in the United States or elsewhere, are seriously misguided.
As believers, let’s continue to pray for all United States government officials, and most especially for President Biden, who wields incredible power, control and influence over the U.S. federal government, its foreign policy, and is the commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces. Let’s also ask the Father to bring a swift, just and clear ending to this war, which results in a framework for reconstructing a functioning Palestinian society and affords for Israeli security, peace and reconciliation. Continuing hatred, and the desire to wipe Israel and the Jews from the face of the earth, is not the answer.
Let’s not forget what scripture has to say about God’s chosen people:
Genesis 12:3 (NKJV)
The LORD said to Abram (later Abraham): “I will bless those who bless you, [a]nd I will curse him who curses you; [a]nd in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Deuteronomy 7:6 (NKJV)
“For you [the Jews] are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself [emphasis mine], a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”
Zechariah 2:8-10 (NKJV)
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion [Jerusalem]! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,’ says the Lord.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
