Update, 12:45 a.m. Saturday: New Mexico State Police have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jaremy Smith of Marion, South Carolina. NMSP has issued an arrest warrant for Smith, charging him with first-degree murder, armed robbery, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and criminal damage to property.
Smith is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If seen, call the New Mexico State Police at (505) 425-6771 or dial 911. More Here

UPDATE FROM KOB TV: Officials named the officer as Justin Hare. State Police say he was shot and killed overnight near mile marker 320 on I-40.

(KRQE) – New Mexico State Police is reporting that an officer was shot and killed Friday morning. State Police say the crime took place on I-40 west of Tucumcari. More Here
