Silent Saturday is the day after Jesus’ crucifixion and before His glorious resurrection. Not mentioned as a celebratory day in Scripture, it often goes unrecognized in many churches.
Today, we can reflect on what it looks like to wait on Jesus. We know that on Saturday, He was in the tomb. His disciples and the women who faithfully followed His teachings were mourning. The man they staked their lives on was dead. Surely, doubt crept in.
God’s plans are greater than our own. His ways are intricate, detailed, and perfect.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
–Isaiah 55:8-9
While Jesus’ followers anxiously awaited what was next, we have the great privilege of knowing exactly what happened on Sunday. Let’s spend time today remembering all the Lord has done and expectantly waiting for what He will do. Reflect on the prayers He has already answered—giving Him all the praise and glory He deserves.
