Back in early 1990, I met Jesus. The year prior to that, Ron and I had had a very rough time in our marriage. I had made a lot of bad decisions and train wrecked our life. Ron met Jesus first when he had a remote tour in South Korea. I didn’t want anything to do with Ron or the Jesus he was trying to share with me. He kept praying for me and the boys and we all received Jesus right before he came home from Korea. We were working things out day by day until one day, I was standing at the kitchen sink doing dishes and a voice spoke to me. It said, “You don’t belong here. He’s too good for you.” I shrugged it off, but that voice remained relentless. Pretty soon I was believing it, and then I was speaking it out of my mouth.I had just affirmed the lying word.
For they say, ‘Thus says Lord Jehovah’, and Lord Jehovah has not sent them, and they begin to affirm a lying word. Ezekiel 13:6
I had agreed with the enemy of my soul. I began back pedaling, away from Ron and the Lord. I left Ron and the boys, knowing they needed their Dad’s stability. Meanwhile, he had an evil spirit appear to him, also in the kitchen. The spirit was in the form of a man, leaning against the wall, dressed in a black and white suit. He told Ron, “I can get her back for you.” Ron told it to get out and told the Lord that if I didn’t come to know who I am in Him, then he didn’t want me back.
And not to wonder at this, for if he who is Satan resembles an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
I didn’t know that spirits could speak to you. I had heard people saying the devil told them to do something, and I’ve heard of people being influenced by demonic voices, but beloved ones, I rarely hear Christ knowers say that they have heard the Voice of Truth. The voice of the Holy Spirit.
Please don’t hear what I’m not saying. Yes, He speaks to us through the Scriptures as well as through other believers, but he speaks to you personally. How do I know? I have heard the voice of the deceiver and I have heard the still, small voice of my Beloved Holy Spirit. 1 John 4:1-3 tells us not to believe all spirits and to test them by asking if they confess that Yeshua The Messiah has come in the flesh. If they don’t, they’re not. 1 Timothy 4:1 talks about believers being pulled away from the faith by deceiving spirits. There’s a battle going on that we don’t see. Read Daniel chapter 10. It talks about a spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:10-13 reminds us also that there is a spiritual battle.
Check out these Scriptures:
And he said to him: “Go out and stand on the mountain before Lord Jehovah.” And behold, Lord Jehovah made a great and mighty wind ripping apart the mountains and breaking the rocks before Lord Jehovah. Lord Jehovah was not in the wind, and after the wind, an earthquake. Lord Jehovah was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake, a fire. Lord Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire, a voice that was speaking softly. 1 Kings 19:11-13
Call me and I shall answer you and I shall show you great and powerful deeds that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3
You’ll hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way.” Isaiah 30:21
Jesus said in John 10:27-29 that His sheep hear His voice.
I mentioned that I have heard the Spirit’s voice. The day I walked away from my husband and sons, I heard the Lord and He was sobbing. He said, “Please don’t go.” At that point, my heart was so hard that I left anyway. After that, the Lord continually wooed me to turn to Him. Ron and I were reunited many years later and we’re better than ever because we know who we are in Christ and He is our center. Praise Jesus!
The Spirit of God has awakened me and the breath of God has given me Life! Job 33:4
You hear the Lord’s still, small voice beloved ones. If you’re not sure, ask Him to help you hear Him. Practice being in His presence and listening for His voice. Do you have an ear to hear?
And he said, “Whoever has an ear to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:9
“And he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit speaks to the assemblies…” Revelation 2:17
Hallelujah and amen!
