KOB 4 News (Albuquerque, NM) reports that videos posted on social media show “drag queen” artist Dylan Payan (AKA: Mythica Sahreen) performing at Albuquerque’s Atrisco Heritage Academy High School’s prom last weekend at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Albuquerque Public Schools (“APS”) is investigating the matter. Allowing a drag queen performance at a high school prom, which reportedly included “twerking,” shocked many parents and has resulted in administrative actions against several APS employees.
Here is a YouTube video of KOB 4 News’ initial reporting in this matter:
APS has confirmed that Anthony Lovato is the now the acting principal, and that several employees have been placed on administrative leave, pending the findings of an ongoing APS investigation. An APS spokesperson told KOB 4 News that no additional information would be released at this time upon advice of legal counsel.

KOAT 7 News (Albuquerque, NM) is also reporting in this matter and has obtained a copy of a letter sent to parents yesterday (4/25/2024) via email from Channell Segura, Chief of Schools, and Mark Garcia, Associate Superintendent of Leadership Learning and Equity, stating, in part: “I want to inform you that Anthony Lovato has been appointed as the acting principal of Atrisco Heritage Academy. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Lovato to the Atrisco Heritage Academy Community.”
KOAT 7 News obtained email and texts showing exchanges between APS administration and drag queen Dylan Payan acknowledging the drag queen performance at this year’s Atrisco Heritage Academy High School’s prom.
Payan told KOAT 7 News that he was a member of the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance and that he worked with the school on a volunteer basis. He said that “multiple staff members saw me and what I was wearing and knew what I was doing. If something was wrong, they would have told me. Everything that I wore was talked about on the phone in detail. It was not an issue when I performed at the school many times before, years ago, with the exact same dance moves.”
The KOAT 7 News report may be read in full HERE.
My brothers and sisters, I could not help but notice that Payan told KOAT 7 News that not only had the event been coordinated with APS, but that he had “performed at the school many times before, years ago, with the same dance moves.” So, between the activities of the school’s Gay/Straight Alliance and Payan’s past performances, this is not a one-off issue. APS is clearly supporting, if not encouraging, LGBTQ(+) activities and lifestyles.
As Christians, we know that the truth is that God made us in His image and likeness, male and female, and blesses the union of one man and one woman in marriage – His plan for our lives and procreation. This is God’s plan and His very best for us.
Short of homeschooling, attending public school is a requirement of state government for all students. Given this, one would expect that school would be a wholesome place where students learn essential skills for the future, not indoctrination into and moral acceptance of biblically deviant lifestyles. The evil one has a foothold in our public schools – clearly!
Let’s pray that all those who encourage or allow such activities in our public schools would be convicted and repent.
According to the scriptures, we have the authority to bind sin and to simultaneously loose the Holy Spirit’s presence, goodness and conviction into the schools, in the authority and power of the name of Jesus (see Matthew 18:18). We plead the cleansing blood of Jesus over APS and ask in Jesus’ name that those things that are true, noble, just and of good report would be the focus of APS – not sexual sin (see Philippians 4:8). The bible commands us to “flee sexual immorality” (see 1 Corinthians 6:18).
Here are the above-referenced scriptures:
Matthew 18:18 (NKJV)
“Assuredly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
Meditate on These Things
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
1 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
