CNN reports that Pro-Palestinian protests continue to rock major American universities today (4/23/2024).
Columbia University President Dr. Nemat “Minouche” Shafik is under fire from both faculty and students for calling in the New York Police Department (“NYPD”) last week to clear out a pro-Palestinian encampment – even as she faces intense pressure from lawmakers and donors to do the same this week.
More than 130 persons were arrested Monday (4/22/2024) at New York University (“NYU”) after school officials reported “intimidating chants and several antisemitic incidents.” At least 45 persons were arrested at Yale University. There was a reported “dangerous and volatile” situation at California State Polytechnic University. Humboldt closed its campus and went to remote classes – with protesters barricaded inside an on-campus building.
Pro-Palestinian encampments have been set up at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (“MIT”), Emerson College, University of California (Berkeley), and the University of Michigan. Boston’s Harvard University closed Harvard Yard and suspended a pro-Palestine student organization.

Newsmax reports that New York City Mayor Eric Adams informed the public during a press conference today that the escalation of violence stemming from the anti-Israel protests across the city is likely the work of “outside agitators.” He blamed the continuing protests at Columbia University and NYU on opportunists who “latch on” to protests with the intent of escalating matters.
The NYPD announced that 133 persons were taken into custody yesterday following protests at NYU, with all but four of the protesters released with summonses for trespassing. This follows the weekend arrests of more than 100 demonstrators at Columbia University.

Fox News reports that President and Founder of Students Supporting Israel, Ilan Sinelnikov, is warning against history repeating itself, as antisemitism continues to rage on university and college campuses across the country.
He told Fox News that “history, at the end of the day, repeats itself,” citing what happened during the 1930s “with the harassment and intimidation of Jewish people across Europe, back when Jewish students were not allowed [into] universities and people were creating human chains in order to block Jewish students from entry.”
He also stated that the Holocaust “didn’t happen overnight,” but slowly seeped into society, and that “this is what’s happening in the highest educational institutions.”

My brothers and sisters, this situation is a clear sign of the times and is completely unbelievable. It’s as if WWII, the Holocaust, and 9/11 never even happened. What are our children being taught in our schools? What are our elected officials thinking? What are pastors preaching (or not preaching) from the pulpits?
America, its land and its people, needs healing! Pray that history won’t (fully) repeat itself. One Jewish Holocaust is enough! Pray for our leaders, teachers and students, that love would prevail. This must end. How did the “great melting pot” become a country full of hatred and division? We would do well to remember that the reason is Satan. The evil one comes to steal, kill and destroy (see John 10:10). Satan hates God and he also hates you and me.
As I will say until the Lord takes me from this earth, the truth is not found in the wisdom of this world. The Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus (see John 14:6). Pray my brothers and sisters that love will prevail and that our nation will be healed from its sin (see 2 Chronicles 7:14). And, let’s remember what scripture has to say about God’s chosen people (see Deuteronomy 7:6).
Here are the above-referenced scriptures:
John 10:10 (NKJV)
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Deuteronomy 7:6 (NKJV)
“For you [the Jews] are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself [emphasis mine], a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
